Behringer XR12
Showcaller AI runs the Behringer XR12 rack mixer by voice or chat. It covers channel levels and mutes, mix buses 1 to 4 and the four DCAs. It also handles preamps, EQ and dynamics, plus effects and snapshots 1 to 64.

Overview
The Behringer XR12 with Showcaller
The Behringer XR12 is a 12-input digital mixer for iPad and Android tablets. It has four programmable mic preamps designed by Midas and eight line inputs. It also has a built-in Wi-Fi module and a USB stereo recorder. There is no control surface, so you mix it from the X AIR apps. Showcaller AI adds voice and chat control to the Behringer XR12 through the Showcaller Bridge App. The Behringer X AIR and Midas MR integration page lists every function.
What Showcaller controls on the Behringer XR12
Showcaller talks to the mixer over the network with OSC on port 10024. For example, you can say mute the lectern mic or bring channel 3 up 2 dB. On Starter, Showcaller sets and reads channel faders and mutes, and renames channels. It also rides and mutes the main LR output and the mix buses. Pro adds the four DCA groups, the four-band channel EQ, gates and compressors. It also adds preamp gain, 48V phantom power, polarity and the high-pass filter. Then Enterprise adds effects sends, FX and aux return levels, channel colors and snapshots 1 to 64. Showcaller asks you first before it loads or saves a snapshot, switches phantom power or changes an effects send.
What is different on the XR12
The model you pick in Showcaller sets which buses it offers. On the XR12, Showcaller offers mix buses 1 to 4, while the XR18 gets six. In hardware, the XR12 has two aux outputs on TRS jacks. Behringer also lists six aux buses in its processing. Only inputs 1 to 4 have mic preamps with 48V phantom power. So gain and phantom power requests apply to those four inputs. In addition, the USB port records stereo files to a drive, but Showcaller does not control that recorder. For network setup, a wired Ethernet link to the Bridge App computer is the better choice. That is because Showcaller waits at most 0.3 seconds for each read.
Behringer XR12 vs Midas MR12
The Midas MR12 is the closest relative of the XR12. Behringer and Midas are both part of Music Tribe. Both mixers have 12 inputs, four mic preamps and eight line inputs. They also share the same outputs, Wi-Fi module and USB recorder. However, the preamps differ. Behringer describes the XR12 preamps as designed by Midas, while the MR12 uses Midas PRO preamps. The apps differ too: X AIR for the XR12 and M AIR for the MR12. Also, the MR12 weighs 2.9 kg, against 2.4 kg for the XR12. In Showcaller, both belong to the same XAir model family and get the same Tool Functions. See the Midas MR12 page for that model. For full specs, see Behringer’s XR12 product page.
What you can do
Run the Behringer XR12 by voice or chat
Mix buses 1 to 4
Ride and mute buses 1-4 and set each channel's send to them, for wedges or in-ears (Starter).
Four DCA groups
Assign channels to DCA 1-4 (Pro). Ride, mute and name each DCA, for example Presenters or Music.
Four mic preamps, set remotely
Read and set gain and 48V phantom power on mic inputs 1-4, flip polarity and set the high-pass filter (Pro). Phantom changes are confirmed first.
Effects and snapshots
Send channels into the four built-in effects and set FX and aux return levels (Enterprise). Color channels, and load or save snapshots 1-64.

Connection
Connecting the Behringer XR12
- Control protocol
- OSC over the network, through the Showcaller Bridge App running on a computer on the same network as the mixer
- Port
- 10024 (the default). Only change it if your mixer has been set up to use a different port.
- Recommended link
- Wired Ethernet from the XR12's RJ45 port to the Bridge App's network. Showcaller waits 0.3 s for a read. Over Wi-Fi, replies can take longer than that. That is especially true on the mixer's own access point in a busy 2.4 GHz room.
- What Showcaller asks for
- The mixer's IP address and the model (XR12). The model sets which buses are offered: 1-4 on the XR12.
- Model family in Showcaller
- XAir (shared by Behringer XR12 and XR18, Midas MR12 and MR18)
- Connection check
- The Get mixer info Tool Function sends the mixer an information request and reports whether it answered

FAQ
Questions about the Behringer XR12
What is the difference between the Behringer XR12 and the Midas MR12?
They share the same layout: 12 inputs, four mic preamps, eight line inputs, two aux outputs and Wi-Fi. The MR12 uses Midas PRO preamps and the M AIR apps. The XR12 uses preamps designed by Midas and the X AIR apps. Showcaller gives both the same Tool Functions.
How many mix buses can Showcaller control on the XR12?
Four. When you pick the XR12 model, Showcaller offers bus masters, mutes and channel sends for buses 1 to 4. The XR18 and MR18 get buses 1 to 6.
Can Showcaller load snapshots on the XR12?
Yes, on the Enterprise plan. Showcaller loads a saved snapshot (1-64) or saves the current mix as a named snapshot. It asks you to confirm first.
Can I connect Showcaller to the XR12 over its own Wi-Fi?
It can work, but wired Ethernet is recommended. Showcaller waits at most 0.3 seconds for each read. On a busy 2.4 GHz network, the XR12's reply can arrive later than that.
Which Showcaller plan do I need?
Starter has 14 Tool Functions for diagnostics and channel faders, mutes and names. They also cover the main LR output and the mix buses. Pro adds 17 more Tool Functions for DCA groups, preamps and input, and channel EQ. They also cover gates and compressors. Enterprise adds effects and snapshots (6 more). Each plan includes the Tool Functions of the plans below it.
