Midas MR12
Showcaller AI runs the Midas MR12 stage box mixer by voice or chat. It covers channel levels and mutes, mix buses 1 to 4 and the four DCAs. It also handles preamps, EQ and dynamics, plus effects and snapshots 1 to 64.

Overview
The Midas MR12 with Showcaller
The Midas MR12 is a 12-input portable digital mixer for iPad and Android tablets. It has four Midas PRO mic preamps, eight line inputs and a built-in Wi-Fi module. It also has MIDI I/O and a USB port for stereo WAV recording. You mix it from the M AIR apps, so the mixer can sit on stage or in a rack. Showcaller AI gives the Midas MR12 voice and chat control through the Showcaller Bridge App. The Behringer X AIR and Midas MR integration page lists every function.
How Showcaller works with the Midas MR12
The Bridge App reaches the mixer over your network and sends OSC on port 10024. Then Showcaller turns plain requests into Tool Function calls. For instance, you can say mute the panel mics or bring the presenter up 3 dB in bus 2. Starter covers channel faders, mutes and names, the main LR output and the mix buses. Pro adds the four DCA groups, preamp gain and 48V phantom power, polarity and the high-pass filter. It also adds the channel EQ, gates and compressors. Finally, Enterprise adds effects sends, FX and aux return levels, channel colors and snapshots 1 to 64. Before Showcaller loads or saves a snapshot, switches phantom power or changes an effects send, it asks you to confirm.
What applies on this model
Pick the MR12 model when you connect, because the model sets the bus range. On the MR12, Showcaller offers mix buses 1 to 4. By contrast, the MR18 gets buses 1 to 6. The MR12 has two aux outputs on TRS jacks, and Midas lists six aux buses in its processing. Phantom power and preamp gain matter on inputs 1 to 4, the four Midas PRO preamps. The remaining eight inputs are line inputs. Also, Showcaller does not run the USB recorder. A wired Ethernet link is the better choice, since every read waits at most 0.3 seconds.
Midas MR12 vs Behringer XR12
Many people compare the MR12 with the Behringer XR12. Both brands are part of Music Tribe, and the two mixers share one layout. Each has 12 inputs, four mic preamps, eight line inputs, two aux outputs and the same Wi-Fi module. The main difference is the preamp. The Midas MR12 uses Midas PRO preamps, while the XR12 has preamps designed by Midas. The MR12 runs the M AIR apps, and the XR12 runs X AIR. In addition, the MR12 weighs 2.9 kg and the XR12 weighs 2.4 kg. For Showcaller, the two are the same. They share one XAir model family, one set of Tool Functions and buses 1 to 4. See the Behringer XR12 page for that model. For full specs, see Midas’s MR12 product page.
What you can do
Run the Midas MR12 by voice or chat
Mix buses 1 to 4
Ride and mute buses 1-4 and set each channel's send to them, for wedges or in-ears (Starter).
Four DCA groups
Assign channels to DCA 1-4 (Pro). Ride, mute and name each DCA, for example Panel or Playback.
Midas PRO preamps, set remotely
Read and set gain and 48V phantom power on mic inputs 1-4, flip polarity and set the high-pass filter (Pro). Phantom changes are confirmed first.
Effects and snapshots
Send channels into the four built-in effects and set FX and aux return levels (Enterprise). Color channels, and load or save snapshots 1-64.

Connection
Connecting the Midas MR12
- Control protocol
- OSC over the network, through the Showcaller Bridge App running on a computer on the same network as the mixer
- Port
- 10024 (the default). Only change it if your mixer has been set up to use a different port.
- Recommended link
- Wired Ethernet from the MR12's RJ45 port to the Bridge App's network. Showcaller waits 0.3 s for a read. Over Wi-Fi, replies can take longer than that. That is especially true on the mixer's own access point in a busy 2.4 GHz room.
- What Showcaller asks for
- The mixer's IP address and the model (MR12). The model sets which buses are offered: 1-4 on the MR12.
- Model family in Showcaller
- XAir (shared by Behringer XR12 and XR18, Midas MR12 and MR18)
- Connection check
- The Get mixer info Tool Function sends the mixer an information request and reports whether it answered

FAQ
Questions about the Midas MR12
Is the Midas MR12 the same as the Behringer XR12?
They share one layout: 12 inputs, four mic preamps, eight line inputs, two aux outputs and Wi-Fi. The MR12 has Midas PRO preamps and uses the M AIR apps. In Showcaller, both get the same Tool Functions and buses 1 to 4.
How many mix buses can Showcaller control on the MR12?
Four. When you pick the MR12 model, Showcaller offers bus masters, mutes and channel sends for buses 1 to 4. The MR18 gets buses 1 to 6.
Can Showcaller switch phantom power on the MR12?
Yes, on the Pro plan. Showcaller reads and sets 48V phantom power and preamp gain on the XLR preamp inputs. It asks you to confirm before it switches phantom power.
Does Showcaller read gate settings back?
No. Showcaller can set a channel's gate. But the Get channel dynamics state Tool Function only reports whether the compressor is on.
Which Showcaller plan do I need?
Starter has 14 Tool Functions for diagnostics and channel faders, mutes and names. They also cover the main LR output and the mix buses. Pro adds 17 more Tool Functions for DCA groups, preamps and input, and channel EQ. They also cover gates and compressors. Enterprise adds effects and snapshots (6 more). Each plan includes the Tool Functions of the plans below it.
