MA Lighting grandMA3 onPC

Showcaller AI sends playback commands to grandMA3 onPC on a Windows or Mac computer. It fires cues, presses executors, sets faders and switches pages. Commands go over one-way OSC, so they are sent, not confirmed.

Overview

The MA Lighting grandMA3 onPC with Showcaller

grandMA3 onPC is the grandMA3 console software for Windows and Mac. MA Lighting says it is the same software as on its consoles. To output DMX, you connect grandMA3 onPC hardware, such as a node or a command wing. MA presents it as an entry point for pre-programming and smaller shows. Showcaller AI sends commands to the onPC computer through the Bridge App. The MA Lighting grandMA3 integration page lists every function.

Network setup for grandMA3 onPC

On a console, the show network is usually set up once. On a laptop, it takes a little more care. First, open Menu, In & Out, OSC, and turn on Enable Input. Next, pick the network interface on the show network in the same menu. A laptop often has Wi-Fi and Ethernet, so choose the one the Bridge App can reach. Then set up an OSC line for input with Receive Command on and an empty prefix. Finally, give Showcaller the computer’s IP address and the line’s port, 8000 by default.

What you can send to grandMA3 onPC

The functions match the grandMA3 consoles. In every plan, Showcaller sends Go to a sequence or jumps to a cue. It also steps back, pauses a sequence or turns it off, and runs macros. With Pro, it sends Go or Off to an executor and sets its master fader. This is useful without a fader wing, because you name any executor by page and number. In addition, Enterprise adds the full command line.

No reply from the software

OSC on the grandMA3 is one-way, because the software does not answer. So Showcaller reports a command as sent, not as done. Likewise, a page change or a fader move is not confirmed. Showcaller also asks you first before a macro, a command-line instruction or an Off command. For details, see MA Lighting’s grandMA3 software page.

What you can do

Run the MA Lighting grandMA3 onPC by voice or chat

  • Cues from the laptop

Send Go, step forward or back, jump to a cue, pause a sequence or turn it off. Starter.

  • Executors without a wing

Name any executor by page and number. Send Go or Off, or set its master fader from 0 to 100 percent. Pro.

  • Windows or Mac

Works with grandMA3 onPC on either system, as long as the Bridge App can reach the computer on your network.

  • Sent, not confirmed

grandMA3 onPC does not reply to OSC. Showcaller reports each command as sent, never as confirmed.

FAQ

Questions about the MA Lighting grandMA3 onPC

Does Showcaller work with grandMA3 onPC on a Mac?

MA Lighting offers grandMA3 onPC for Windows and Mac. Showcaller only needs to reach the software's OSC input over the network. So the operating system does not change its functions.

Do I need onPC hardware for Showcaller?

No. Showcaller sends commands to the software over the network. MA's onPC hardware is for outputting DMX and for physical faders and keys.

Which network interface should grandMA3 onPC use?

The one on the same network as the Bridge App. You pick it in the OSC menu, and you give Showcaller that interface's IP address.

Does Showcaller confirm commands on grandMA3 onPC?

No. The software does not reply to OSC. So Showcaller reports each command as sent, not as done.
