Overview

The Yamaha Rivage PM Series with Showcaller

The Yamaha Rivage PM series is Yamaha’s flagship live mixing system. It comes as the PM10, PM7, PM5 and PM3. Each has a control surface with up to three bays of 12 faders. With a DSP-RX engine, a system mixes 120 inputs to 48 Mix buses and 24 Matrices. With a DSP-RX-EX engine, that grows to 288 inputs, 72 Mix buses and 36 Matrices. The PM7 has its own DSP for 144 inputs and 60 Mix buses. Every system has 24 DCA groups and 1000 scene memories. Showcaller AI controls the Yamaha Rivage PM by voice or chat.

How Showcaller connects to the Yamaha Rivage PM

Showcaller connects through the Showcaller Bridge App on the show network. It uses Yamaha’s native remote control protocol on TCP port 49280. No login is needed. Then the operator asks in plain words. For example, mute the presenter mic or Mix 22 up 2 dB. They can also ask send more of the host to Mix 40 or pull the delay Matrix down 3 dB. Showcaller reads every change back from the console before it reports it done. If the console disagrees, it reports the mismatch. The Yamaha mixer integration page lists every function.

What applies on Rivage PM systems

Large shows use many Mix buses and Matrices, and that is where voice control helps most. A monitor engineer can ask for a level without paging through bays. Meanwhile, a broadcast or delay feed can be checked with is Matrix 12 muted. However, scene recall is not available on Rivage PM in Showcaller. It works on Yamaha CL and QL consoles only. So recall scenes from the console or RIVAGE PM Editor. As a result, the Pro plan already covers every Tool Function Showcaller offers here.

Tool Functions by plan

Starter covers input faders and mutes, the Main Stereo master and the Mix bus masters, with reads for each. Pro adds Matrix masters and DCA group faders and mutes. It also adds each input’s send level and on/off state to a Mix bus. The PM10, PM7, PM5 and PM3 all use the same Tool Functions. For full specs, see Yamaha’s Rivage PM series page.

What you can do

Run the Yamaha Rivage PM Series by voice or chat

  • Mix masters at scale

Ride and mute the Main Stereo master and Mix bus masters, and read their levels and mute state (Starter).

  • Matrix outputs

Ride and mute Matrix masters for zones, delays and broadcast feeds, with read-back (Pro).

  • Mix sends, level and on/off

Set how much of an input goes to a Mix bus and switch individual sends on or off (Pro).

  • DCA groups

Ride and mute DCA groups and read their state (Pro).

  • Read back on every change

Each change Showcaller makes on a Yamaha console is read back from the console, and a mismatch is reported.

Connection

Connecting the Yamaha Rivage PM Series

Control protocol
Yamaha's native remote control protocol (RCP) over TCP/IP, through the Showcaller Bridge App. The Bridge App runs on a computer on the same network as the console.
Port
TCP 49280, the same on every supported Yamaha console. No login is needed.
Console connection
Put the Rivage PM system on the same network as the Bridge App computer, and give Showcaller its IP address on that control network.
What Showcaller asks for
The console's IP address and the console series (Rivage PM), so the right Tool Functions are offered
Model family in Showcaller
Rivage PM
Connection check
The Get status Tool Function reads back whether the console's main stereo output is on. That confirms the console is answering.

FAQ

Questions about the Yamaha Rivage PM Series

Can Showcaller recall scenes on a Yamaha Rivage PM?

Not at the moment. Showcaller's Scene Recall Tool Functions work on CL and QL consoles only. On Rivage PM, recall scenes from the console or RIVAGE PM Editor.

Does the system (PM10, PM7, PM5 or PM3) change what Showcaller can do?

No. All are connected as 'Yamaha Rivage PM Series' and use the same Tool Functions. The systems differ in channel counts, surface size and DSP engine.

Does Showcaller confirm changes on the Rivage PM?

Yes. Every change it makes is read back from the console before it reports it done, and a mismatch is reported.

Which Showcaller plan do I need for Rivage PM?

Starter covers diagnostics, input faders and mutes, and the Main and Mix masters. Pro adds Matrix masters, Mix sends and DCA groups. Enterprise only adds Scene Recall, which is not available on Rivage PM. So Pro covers everything Showcaller offers for these systems.

Can Showcaller change EQ, dynamics or preamp gain on the Rivage PM?

No. The Yamaha Tool Functions cover faders and mutes, sends, Matrix and Mix masters, DCAs and scene recall. EQ, dynamics and head amp control are not part of them.
